Installation of running water

Observations

• Limited access to water

• No running water in the orphanage

• Water drawn and shared by the whole neighborhood

Consequences

The children wash themselves outdoors using buckets and water jugs. This has an impact on their hygiene, as they never wash their hands after using the toilet.

We took action

The children can now live in better sanitary conditions thanks to the installation of a borehole supplying the orphanage with running water. A sink, washbasins, showers and decent sanitary facilities have been installed, improving hygiene and reducing the effort involved in fetching water (for washing dishes, clothes, showers, toilets and cooking).
