Tribute to Joseph Désiré ZINGUI, Founder of Petit Dan and Sarah

Joseph Désiré ZINGUI was a deeply good man. Alongside his wife Marie-Madeleine ZINGUI with whom he founded Petit Dan and Sarah, he dedicated his life to the protection, education and well-being of the most vulnerable children. Since the creation of this Center for Educational and Social Actions in 1982, and until his last breath, he has not stopped fighting to offer every child a healthy living environment, where "Every child is love".
On June 10, 2025, following a short illness, Joseph Désiré left us. His funeral was an opportunity to finalize and broadcast a documentary started by the founder in 2024, presenting the work of his life and testifying to his commitment alongside orphaned and vulnerable children.

Funeral
The funeral took place from July 3 to 5, 2025, at the Petit Dan and Sarah Foundation. Family, friends, collaborators, former residents and stakeholders of the orphanage, traditional chiefs and local authorities were present to pay him a final tribute. The events began on Thursday, July 3rd around 10 PM, with a religious choir. Then, the next day was held the lifting of bodies and its installation at the Petit Dan and Sarah Foundation, followed by masses and the funeral vigil. On Saturday, July 5th, the traditional ceremony (Molo awu Essani) took place as well as the testimonies, the mass and finally the burial in strict family privacy. July 5, 2025 was immortalized by professionals, who made a film and photos.

Although his absence leaves an immense void, the action at Petit Dan and Sarah continues. The succession is ensured by the children of the founding couple, still alongside Marie Madeleine ZINGUI. The team remains more than ever committed to living its values and honouring its memory through every action taken for children.
